Chad’s flag is based on the French tricolor and was adopted in 1959 using a 2:3 ratio. The flag is composed of three equal vertical stripes. The left stripe is blue, the center stripe is yellow, and the right stripe is red. The flag was meant to combine the blue-white-red of France with the green-yellow-red of Africa. The result, by coincidence, was an identical flag to that of Romania, making them the only two countries to share a flag.
