The flag of Georgia was adopted in 2004 from a medieval design dating back to the Byzantine era and uses a 2:3 ratio. The flag is composed of a white field on which is superimposed a thick red cross centered both vertically and horizontally, dividing the flag into four equal white quadrants. Centered in each quadrant is a smaller red cross.
