The flag of Sudan was adopted in 1971 and uses proportions of 1:2. It is composed of three horizontal stripes of equal width which are from top to bottom red, white, and black. On the left of the flag is a green isosceles triangle arranged so that its base is flush with and equal to the left side of the flag and its apex is centered in the white stripe. The colors stand for struggle (red), Islam and peace (white), Sudan (black), and agriculture (green).
