The flag of Uzbekistan was adopted in 1991 and uses a 1:2 ratio. The flag is composed of five unequal horizontal stripes in a ratio from top to bottom of 16:1:16:1:16. From top to bottom the stripes are light blue, red, white, red, and green. On the left of the blue stripe is a white Islamic crescent, facing right, on whose right are twelve five-pointed stars arranged in three lines. The top line has three stars, the middle four, and the bottom five, all equally spaced and arranged so that the right side of the lines is evenly aligned and the left side is stepped.
