About the Language:
The language does not have a standard spelling like other languages. There has been debate about getting a standardized spelling for the language but nothing has been successful yet. The language practices what is called reduplication. This is the process of repeating the same word to intensify the results of the meaning. Words are typically made up of open syllables and each noun has its own class. The writing system of Herero is based on the Latin script and is still used today.
The first Bible and dictionary were first published in 1900s.
