Although most of the United States has been experiencing a recession, translation and interpretation companies are flourishing and seem to be recession-proof. Many have been around so long, they have actually survived two recessions.
In fact, many translation and interpretation companies are expanding. Although a recession may be in full force, this does not decrease the demand for language-based services that are absolutely necessary within the medical and legal industries.
Nevertheless, some companies, no matter the industry, become paralyzed by talk of depression and recession and begin to lose business solely due to their attitudes and practices. In such an economy, companies must gauge their competitors and make bold decisions in order to stay confident and viable.
In addition, industries that utilize translation and interpretation services may also be suffering from bad economic times. Therefore, language-based companies must be willing to be somewhat flexible in their terms of payment and billing to ensure they accommodate customers and outwit the competition in this highly competitive business.
