The Ministry for Health, Welfare, and Family Affairs recruits over 60 translators and interpreters among married immigrants to the country. In this manner, married immigrants will be able to communicate easily and clearly.

To be able to qualify for such a position, migrants must have graduated from high school; are able to interpret and translate in Korean and their own native language; must be married to South Koreans; and must have the ability to work five days a week at the multicultural family assistance center and go on business trips.

These migrant workers will also work as consultants, informants, and educational assistants for brides who are married to South Korean men. In addition, interpretation and translation services in schools, hospitals, and other organizations will take place. This work will begin in March 2009 and each employee will be paid approximately 950,000 won per month. Those who work in the professional division of workforce development will receive approximately 1,650,000 won per month.
