Recently a team of National Geographic scholars interpreted and translated the newly found "Gospel of Judas." The translation team included Rodolphe Kasser, a leading expert in ancient Coptic, and Gregor Wurst, Marvin Meyer, and Fracois Gaudard, who are also proficient in the language.
To determine the authenticity of the manuscript found, National Geographic purchased it and placed it in the hands of experts who determined it was genuine, restored the document, translated it, and released it for others to view.
Nevertheless, National Geographic and the experts involved have asserted that the Gospel of Judas is not to be read as a historical description of what happened during the time of Jesus. The text is Gnostic and was written by an early Christian sect who expressed very different ideas than those that ended up in the New Testament.
However, the interpretation and translation from an ancient language to English allows those interested to read this lost manuscript, which is both fascinating and intriguing.
