On November 5, 2008, the American Translators Association (ATA) held their 49th Annual Conference. Translators and interpreters from all over the world attended the conference, which was designed to inform translation and interpretation professionals about industry trends.
Translation and interpretation jobs are expected to increase at a rate of 26% by 2016, particularly in the areas of health care, international trade, and national security.
According to ATA President Jiri Stejskal, Parade Magazine has listed translating as the second hottest job in the United States. Translators and interpreters work in medicine, banking, pharmaceuticals, telecom, and technology.
The ATA underscores the importance of using a professional translator to protect government and businesses from costly errors.
