For several years, the city of Tucson, Arizona has provided written and oral language interpretation for its courts and other governmental facilities. Today the need for interpreters is changing, due to not only the increased need for Spanish interpreters, but also the need for exotic language interpreters.

Tucson City Court and the local police department are most affected by the need for interpreters. The city has actively solicited bids from individuals working as interpreters, but the demand is higher than the stock of interpreters in the area.

It is likely that the city of Tucson will continue to face this problem as the area continues to grow with immigrants from diverse countries that speak a variety of languages other than Spanish.
