Even today, Islam remains the most misunderstood religion in the world. The events of "9/11" gave Muslims a bad name around the world and many Muslims have been doing serious soul searching since that time.
In Asaff A.A. Fyzee's new book, A Modern Approach to Islam, he reinterpret's Islam to fit into modern day translation. He translates the Prophet's last sermon by also explaining the synthesis of law and religion in Islam.
Fyzee also rejects the interpretations of Islam by the "Imams of authority." He finds they do not take into consideration European thought, interpretation, and translation of the religion.
Fyzee's views and interpretations are interesting, but may have to be revised shortly, since the religion and the Muslim society that surrounds it continues to change at a rapid pace.
