Corea Image Communication Institute (CICI) President Choi Jung-wha believes that the attractiveness of a nation makes it more receptive to others. Choi Jung is a veteran interpreter and translator and is now teaching the practice at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies Graduate School of Interpretation and Translation.
Choi states, "Koreans tend to be blunt in their manner. We should thus look for subtle yet attractive ways to deliver the qualities of our nation. We now have to find ways to be more subtle… to be more attractive… We should not rely on appealing to reason but rather get people to ‘feel’ Korea," she said.
Choi will try to create a better understanding of the Korean people and its culture while at the same time working as an interpreter between Korea and the world as she has done for over 28 years.
To sum it up, Choi says, "We need to promote daily culture, traditional culture, popular culture simultaneously at every target group." To do this Choi has drafted a 10-year plan for promoting a greater Korea to the world.
