5 Strange-But-True Ways to Relieve Short Deadline Stress at the Office
The office can bring about a number of stresses on a daily basis, but nothing beats the level of stress associated with having to meet short deadlines. Luckily, there are ways to beat office anxiety before losing your cool.
Here are 5 strange-but-true ways to beat short deadline stress at the office.
1 - Shiatsu For One
We all know how well a good shoulder rub can work to reduce stress in the muscles. But what if you're alone in your cubicle? The answer may come in the form of a do-it-yourself shiatsu massager. These handy tools can be just what you need to melt the stress in your muscles away.
2 - Breathe Funny
When the stress of having to meeting those tight deadlines starts to mount, try breathing funny before the worry gets the better of you. Breathe in deeply while holding one nostril closed, holding in the air for about 3 to 4 seconds, then releasing. Repeat several times, then switch to the other nostril. You might want to reserve this technique for when you are alone, or your colleagues will just think you're strange!
3 - Lose the Shoes
Kicking off your shoes and getting rid of a layer between the soles of your feet and the floor can be an easy and quick way to relax while at the office. Foot manipulation has long been used as a means of relaxation in many eastern healthcare philosophies. Just make sure you're wearing a clean pair of socks, or are up-to-date on your pedicure!
4 - Self-Hypnosis
Considering how powerful the mind is, it should come as no surprise that it can cause you to fall into a pit of stress. But it can also help you out of that same hole. Find a quiet area, and work yourself into a calm state. By repeating positive affirmations to yourself, you can experience an emotional uplift. Give it a shot - it might be more useful than you may image.
5 - Take an Aroma Break
If you’re feeling stressed, use a little bit of spearmint oil for a quick pick-me-up. Place a little bit on your temples and the back of your neck as a cheap and easy treat that feels good and smells even better! Small and simple treats like the minty fresh scent of spearmint can keep you feeling good, but if you’re not into mint, you could try a little aromatherapy in the form of a scented candle in your favorite fragrance.
Don’t let your tight deadlines get the better of you.

Technovate Teams Help Clients with Large, Time-Sensitive Documents
When we first launched in a field already full of established companies, we knew we needed to master one particular type of service to gain a foothold and increase our client base. We developed systems to help us compete with translation firms that had large armies of translators, support workers and systems. We built a lean and versatile system custom-designed to deliver high-quality language services. This has helped us translate large projects ranging from 30,000 to 3,000,000 words in record time.
You may wonder how we can translate that many words and deliver within your timeframe all while meeting the highest quality standards. We do it through the integration of our Technovate Translation Team System.
Our Translation Team System is made up of proprietary steps developed over time to catapult our daily workload into hyper speed. We can’t share all the secrets, but we can tell you that it involves a tighter organization process and the creation of a brain nucleus hub that allows cross-team sharing of key terms and project information, saving everyone a lot of time.
Our terrific systems include a number of powerful procedures that work to save you time and money and ensure quality:
- Every translator added to a team performs a customized test from the actual project undertaken.
- A multi-step quality control process not only amalgamates the document but finalizes it into a print-ready form.
- Adherence to standards that support our high accreditation.
- Regular communication with the client provides frequent updates on the project.
The only thing we ask from our clients is for as much time as possible, given your tight deadlines. We have delivered 30,000 words in 3 days and 200,000 words in 20 days. We understand that business works at its own pace and your needs must be met in order for your business plans to succeed. That’s why when undertaking a large, time-sensitive document, we initiate our most powerful systems.
We’ve taken on some of our most successful projects because of our clients’ business deal closing dates, trial dates, arbitration dates, patent filings, government grant submissions, maximizing your internal company budgets by year-end. Amen, Aunt, Neither: Why Do We Pronounce Words Differently?
A tiny change to a syllable can completely change how we pronounce words. Is there a right and wrong way to pronounce them?
Most people will have their own personal preference in how specific words are pronounced, and may even despise the other way.
A classic pair, "either" and "neither", for example, has people from both sides of the ocean using each type of pronunciation. Americans expect to hear the "ee" in the word, based on historical patterns, with the "eye" version becoming common practice in England.
"Aunt" is another common word with two distinct pronunciations. Those who pronounce it "ahnt" versus "ant" are most likely from England, or from certain parts of the US (especially the Boston area).
Regardless of how certain words are pronounced, people tend to commit to one or the other of these multi-pronunciation words quite vehemently.
