The flag of Burundi was adopted in 1967. It uses a 3:5 ratio. The flag consists of a white cross whose lines extend diagonally from the corners of the flag, dividing the flag into four triangles. The top and bottom triangles are read while the left and right triangles are green. The center of the cross has a white circle superimposed. Within this circle, three stars are arranged in an equilateral triangle with the apex pointing toward the top of the flag. Each star is six-pointed, and they are read with green edging. The red stands for struggle, the green for hope, and the white for peace.
