The flag of Ecuador was adopted in 1860 and uses a ratio of 1:2. In composition it is similar to the flag of Colombia. The flag is composed of three horizontal stripes. The topmost stripe is yellow and is twice as thick as the other two stripes (thus taking up half the flag). The middle stripe is blue, and the bottom stripe is red. Superimposed upon the center of the flag is the coat of arms of Ecuador, which include flags, a condor, and a lozenge containing a view of the Andes.
