The flag of Ghana was first used from 1957-1964 and became the permanent flag in 1966. It is a tricolor in a 2:3 ratio. The flag is composed of three equal horizontal stripes, which are from top to bottom red, yellow, and green. Centered in the central yellow stripe and wholly contained within it is a black five-pointed star positioned so that one point is directed toward the top of the flag.
