The flag of Honduras was adopted in 1825 and uses a ratio of 1:2. The flag is composed of three equal horizontal stripes. The center stripe is white, and the two other stripes are dark blue. Arranged at center within the white stripe are five dark blue, five-pointed stars in, from left to right, a 2-1-2 pattern. The blue color stands for the Caribbean, while the stars represent the five members of the Central American confederation of which Honduras was part from 1821-1839.
